Scratch at Lower Shaw Farm
Scratch Choir meet at Lower Shaw Farm, Old Shaw Lane, Shaw, West Swindon SN5 5PJ. We meet in the large room at the end of the single storey building, entry via the kitchen. Road access to the farm is only via Old Shaw Lane. There is a very small car park, but plenty of parking in Old Shaw Lane. There is plenty of space for bicycles. Unfortunately bus services tend to be too infrequent at this time of evening to be useful. If transport is a problem for you, contact us to see if another member can offer you a lift (our members come from all over Swindon). For an on-line map see: Map [Please note: this map is found/displayed by postcode - the actual site of the farm is a short distance to the left of the indicated circle, almost opposite a small cul-de-sac.] For the first time visitor the farm can be a bit tricky to find, especially when it is dark. The farm is along a short drive (15-20 metres) off Old Shaw Lane which can be easy to miss. Look out for the wooden notice by the entrance announcing you have found Lower Shaw Farm. Here are instructions of how to find the farm by road from the Great Western Way in West Swindon, starting at the big roundabout by the Mannington Park/Sainsbury's turn-off. This roundabout has four exits - two to the Great Western Way, one to Paddington Drive, and the fourth to Mead Way. Take the Mead Way exit.
Once into Old Shaw Lane stay on this road as the road bends towards the left. When there are no more houses on your right hand side, its not much further so look out for the entrance to Old Shaw Farm (on your right hand side), it is almost opposite Randall Crescent (a small cul-de-sac). If you get as far as this turning, don't worry, just go the short distance to the end of the road, turn around and retrace your steps, looking for the farm entrance which is now on your left. This sounds more far complicated than it is. Good luck!
