Afternooners meet at  Lower Shaw Farm

Scratch Choir 1 and the Afternoon singers meet at Lower Shaw Farm in in the large dining room at the end of the single storey building (entry via the kitchen).

Road access to the farm is only via Old Shaw Lane.  The farm car park and building is along a drive of approximately 15-20 metres - look out for the wooden notice by the entrance announcing you have found Lower Shaw Farm.

There is a small car park at the farm, but plenty of parking in Old Shaw Lane.  There is plenty of space for bicycles.  Thamesdown Buses No. 19 is the nearest (Brookfield School stop); Nos. 1 and 1A come along Ramleaze Drive (Village Inn stop) and are only a few minutes walk from the Farm.  If transport is a problem for you or if you can offer someone a lift, take a look at our  Car Share  page.

Here are instructions of how to find the farm by road from the Great Western Way in West Swindon, starting at the big roundabout by the Mannington Park/Sainsbury's turn-off.  This roundabout has four exits - two to the Great Western Way, one to Paddington Drive, and the fourth to Mead Way.

Take the Mead Way exit.

At the first roundabout go straight ahead (2nd exit)  - you will have the fire station on your left
At the next roundabout go straight ahead (2nd exit)  - you will have Westlea Campus on your left
At the next roundabout turn left onto SHAW ROAD  - you will still have Westlea Campus on your left
Take the third road turning on the left into OLD SHAW LANE  (just on a right bend).
If you miss the turning and get as far as a roundabout you've gone too far so go all the way round it and come back less than 50 metres and turn right in the Old Shaw Lane.

Once into Old Shaw Lane stay on this road as the road bends towards the left.  When there are no more houses on your right hand side, its not much further so look out for the entrance to Old Shaw Farm (on your right hand side), it is almost opposite Randall Crescent (a small cul-de-sac).  If you get as far as this turning, don't worry, just go the short distance to the end of the road, turn around and retrace your steps, looking for the farm entrance which is now on your left.

This sounds more far complicated than it is.  Good luck!

Scratch 2 meets at the Pilgrim Centre in the Swindon town centre.  It is at the Town Hall end of Swindon's main shopping centre, near the library, almost opposite the Co-Operative Bank.

Please Note - The Pilgrim Centre doors are locked at 7.40pm.  To the left of the glass doors is a buzzer - please press the button and IF we hear you we will come down and let you in, but keep trying as we may not hear the buzzer.  If you know you are going to be late please let us know.  Somebody will come down around 8pm to check for latecomers.

We usually will be meeting in the Activity Hall/Worship Area rooms on the first floor of the Pilgrim Centre.  There is a lift and toilets (wish disabled access).

There are too many buses that go near the Pilgrim Centre to list individually - get off at the same stop you use if going to the library, Commercial Road and the pull-in by the Wyvern Theatre are the nearest.

There is some free street-parking in the roads off Commercial and Groundwell Roads, and Eastcott Hill with no time limit at the time we meet (beware - do not park in residents parking).  There are lots of car parks near-by all of which at the time we meet charge 90p for up to two hours and £1.80 for over two hours (correct at August 2010).  The nearest are probably Morley Street ('McIlroys') and the Wyvern car parks.

Disabled parking - most use either Temple Street or in front of the Town Hall or the Wyvern Car park.  These are also good places for being dropped off and picked up if you are having a lift.
